23 races on the calendar
With 10 meetings on Europe’s finest circuits, including Pau and Monaco, there are 27 races on the 2017 calendar. Seven rounds will host two races, while the meetings at the Hungaroring, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps and the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will feature three races.
An incredibly competitive field
Simultaneously, the Formula Renault Eurocup grid continues to expand. Resolutely international, the field continues to welcome newcomers. Some 20 drivers have already been announced and several others will join soon.
Recognized for its technical and sporting equality, its high level of competition and a calendar mainly made up of FIA Grade 1 circuits, the Formula Renault Eurocup confirms its status as an ideal support for junior driver development programmes. This why there will be several drivers from the Red Bull Junior Team and Renault Sport Academy. SMP Racing and Escuderia Telmex, which has contributed to the accession in F1 of Sergio Perez and Estaban Gutierrez, will also enter several drivers in 2017.
Tarik Ait Said, Renault Sport Racing Customer Racing Programme Sporting Manager : “We are proud of the success of the Formula Renault Eurocup. Thanks to the long-lasting contacts we have maintained with our teams, we have been able to evolve the series in the best way possible. In addition, the close ties that we have with our Formula 1 team allow us to help these young hopefuls to come closer to their ultimate objective. Thus the first 24 entries will be offered 3 hours in the Enstone simulator.”
