Here are the first pictures of the stunning-looking Renault Retail Group UK backed car with which Max Marzorati (Harrow) will contest the inaugural Renault UK Clio Cup Junior championship.

Max commented: “I am really excited about the Renault UK Clio Cup Junior championship – it’s the perfect start in motor racing for someone like me with limited experience in karting.

“The championship gives an entry into Clio Cup racing against other junior-aged drivers who may have extensive karting experience but little or no car racing experience.

“The car itself fills me as a driver with lots of confidence as the grip from the Clio chassis and Michelin tyres are both tremendous. I can’t wait for the racing to begin.”

Ashley Wade, Digital Marketing Manager for RRG UK, said:
I have always believed in the commercial value of motorsport to automotive dealerships – if you want to sell performance cars you need to engage with a motorsport audience.

“For Renault Retail Group it made perfect sense to sponsor a Clio Cup Junior driver as essentially Max will be racing one of our R.S. products. We are all very excited for the championship, we have a great team, promising driver and stunning race livery – we will definitely be seen on track.”

The inaugural Renault UK Clio Cup Junior championship gets under way with its opening two rounds at Snetterton, Norfolk on Sat 9/Sun 10 September. Six more rounds – two each at Brands Hatch in Kent, Pembrey in Carmarthenshire and Brands Hatch again – will follow. Click here for full race dates.

The championship is for 14 to 17-year-old drivers racing cars near identical to those used in the senior UK Clio Cup which competes at the British Touring Car Championship’s high-profile events. The only changes are they are limited to five gears and a top speed of 100mph and will race on road tyres – Michelin’s high performance Pilot Sport 3 – instead of racing ‘slicks’.

The eventual Champion will win a free registration into the senior UK Clio Cup – a prize valued at £18,000. Prizes will be awarded to second and third overall as well as each race winner.

Full championship registrations costing just £1600 + VAT are now open and can be lodged with Renault Sport’s UK Motorsport Championship Manager Will Fewkes: Tel +44 (0)7894 317477 / Email Diese E-Mail-Adresse ist vor Spambots geschützt! Zur Anzeige muss JavaScript eingeschaltet sein!

He said: “What a terrific way to take delivery of your first race car! Max and co have quickly taken advantage of the PR opportunities that UK Clio Cup Junior gives young drivers and got their campaign off to a great start – we very much look forward to seeing him and his very striking car in action at Snetterton next month.”
