Jack Davidson (Falkirk) has become the latest racing champion to announce he is joining the Renault UK Clio Cup Junior grid and will make his debut in the category’s 2017 season finale at Brands Hatch this weekend (Sat 18/Sun 19 Nov) with the JamSport Racing team

Jack, aged 15, won this year’s Fiesta Junior title with JamSport but is now looking forward to his first Clio Cup Junior race event after a successful test in the car during which he was tutored by the squad’s 2016 senior UK Clio Cup Champion Ant Whorton-Eales.

Jack, sponsored by Right Designs Ltd, commented: “It’s more of a race car than I’m used to and there are still some things I need to adapt to, such as the way the car behaves in a corner and it’s also a left, not right-hand-drive car!

“But I got on very well with the paddle shift gear system and seemed to be putting in some good times in mixed conditions which at this time of year could be what we get at Brands Hatch this weekend. I’m really looking forward to it.”

And said JamSport Team Principal Jamie Going: “Jack’s driving has been outstanding this year; he is a real talent and we can’t wait to see what he can do in a Clio Cup Junior car for the first time.”

Jack becomes the second driver to have won a junior car racing title in 2017 to join the Clio Cup Junior grid at Brands Hatch this weekend – Will Dyrdal (York), crowned Junior Saloon Car Championship Champion at the Kent circuit in September, will make a first appearance in the category with the Westbourne Motorsport team.

Renault Sport’s UK Motorsport Championship Manager Will Fewkes said: “We very much welcome Jack into Clio Cup Junior at Brands Hatch. His name adds even further to the already exceptionally high quality of driver that is being attracted to the category.”
